Is Caroline really ready to move out of divorce and into a new relationship, will she take control or let her suitors decide? April 7, Format: Kindle Edition This third story in the series was good, but not IMO quite as appealing as the previous two. The series moved the group of seven to Thea's ranch in Montana, and the romance to Tre, a heavily tattooed computer hacker who constantly belittles himself, and Caroline, recently divorced and ready for a new chapter in her search for love.

Arturo Is Caroline really ready to move out of divorce and into a new relationship, will she take control or let her suitors decide? Arturo, the demon's assistant who joined the group against his will in the previous novel in the series, becomes a rival for Caroline's attention and ups the romantic tension. There's less physical battling in this one and more physological drama. The last ten percent was really gripping and tense, as the group again faces off with the evil that is attacking them to feed on their souls, but I felt the middle of the story lacked a bit of excitement.

Yes, it had some steamy scenes, but I got weary of reading again and again about Tre's feelings of worthlessness, how he was incapable of a real romantic relationship. The story could have been a bit shorter on this angst. I liked the slow revelation of a new side of Arturo, the demon's assistant whose story is not as black and white as first assumed. I look forward to seeing where Arturo ends up as the group continues its trek across the U. I read a complimentary advance copy of this book provided by the author; this is my voluntary and honest review.

May 24, Nicole rated it really liked it. The Shifters Seduction In book 3 of this series, Tre and his friends continue to battle the demon wanting their souls. Caroline is fighting to get away from her own turbulent past. Tre has never felt that he was good enough for anything, especially Caroline, but when faced with possibly losing her to Arturo, he decides to finally get it together and try to make a play for her. When the demon finally appears Tre has to either submit or fight for what he wants. This story was interesting, but I had The Shifters Seduction In book 3 of this series, Tre and his friends continue to battle the demon wanting their souls.

This story was interesting, but I had a hard time getting in to it. I found some of the storyline incongruent with the overall theme of the story. I especially found it hard to accept that Caroline would be interested in such superficial things like Tinder while they are waiting to fight a demon. I rate it 4 Stars. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Apr 07, Christina Luberts rated it really liked it. This book in the series is more about Tre, Caroline and Arturo. Tre has never felt like he belonged and could never love. He put tattoos on his body and is a hacker to try to overcome this.

His Mother died when he was young and his dad just could not get over it and take care of his son. Caroline comes from a wealthy family. She married a man who she thought she loved and fit into her lifestyle. He was not what she thought and was mostly on her own while he had his fun. Arturo is not sure what h This book in the series is more about Tre, Caroline and Arturo. Arturo is not sure what he feels now that he has been captured by the 7 people that he was to get the soul from one of them.

Tre has been feeling that the Demon was coming for him now and he does not know how to handle Caroline's attention to Arturo. Will the demon go after Tre or one of the others? Will Arturo ever let them into his feelings? Will Tre and Caroline find each other? I received a arc copy for my honest review. Apr 06, Denise rated it it was amazing Shelves: Takes up right where the last one left off. I remember reading once that someone said author Erica Jong looked like Miss Piggy. Her upturned nose probably inspired that comparison, but I've always found Jong, the author of the infamously erotic "Fear of Flying," very attractive and sexy.

The photograph of Jong, obviously snapped when she was in her 20s or 30s, adorning the front jacket of "Seducing the Demon: Writing For My Life," is striking. Now in her '60s, she remains a dish, but this book the first of hers I've read shows she's got a full plate, and is more than a babe. Jong's book was "started as a book of advice for fledgling writers. In the final chapter, titled "Does Writing Trump Family," she says, "If you want to be a nice person, don't write.

Jong states elsewhere that all fiction is autobiography and all autobiography is fiction. As for genres - fiction, non-fiction, memoir - they don't exist.

Personal Demons (Personal Demons, #1) by Lisa Desrochers

A book is a book is a book. I often read in search of confirmation that others think what I think, have suffered as I have, and are oppressed by the same fears, the same guilts, the same demons. When this honesty is present, the writer and reader communicate with each other in an almost spiritual way, soul-to-soul, heart-to-heart. When reading Jong's description of her father's last days, I'm reminded of my mother and her defiance, her refusal to eat or get involved in activities at the nursing home, as well as her hospitalization during which she was uncooperative, ripping the respirator from her throat, a move that actually kick-started her recovery.

Jong describes her father in a similar way. He was a "fighter" who "tried to escape from the emergency room, from the ICU and from the hospital" and was proven right when "the pneumonia he caught in the hospital that would finally do him in at ninety-two and not any of the three types of cancer her got and conquered He pulled out breathing tubes, peeing tubes, IVs.

He did not go quietly. Jong says "I think writing elevates my mood because it's a way of imposing order on chaos. And that cover photo?

Lists with This Book. Jun 09, Marianne rated it it was amazing Shelves: Dear Debra, would you be so kind as to include the summoning ritual for my very own succubus from Hel in your next novel? I would be much obliged! Demons of Desire is great start to a new series I know I'm going to enjoy tremendously. Nobody does demons like Debra, and being in the company of succubi has proved quite The're all so adorable. Not to mention "doable" I like Amber a lot. She has love for all things green from her elf side; gotta respect tree-huggers.

As it turns out, I'm not the only nature lover out there And despite being half demon, half elf, she has a human outlook on the world. No wonder, since she was raised by a human family on Earth But her inner "monster", the petulant, constantly horny succubus with a one track mind; she's hilarious, and constantly at war with Amber's other side.

This, of course, drives poor Irix nuts. Leethu has the most intriguing friends. Irix is sexy, funny, kind, demanding, sometimes a little cruel, but totally lovable. Pffft, I'm sure it would be worth it, as long as I'd be his favored human;- One of my favorite scenes was Amber's failed seduction of a man that turns out to be something other than he appears. I'm afraid my giggling disturbed my co-workers quite a lot. It was also a great way to introduce Amber's new friend in New Orleans.

True, they had a rocky start, but never mind, it went uphill from there: Haha; the very non-lethal gate guardian! Oh, Gregory, your guardians are proving to be quite ineffectual. Future readers have much to look forward to. This is a must-read for lovers of Debra's demons. Now, when's the next book be out? Seduced By Shadows

I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the next book to come out. This is my first journey into the world of Succubus. I have read one other series that featured an Incubus, but this was my first experience with the female version. And to make her even more interesting she is a half breed- half succubus and half elf. Throw in an awesome New Orleans setting, some vampires, some witches, and you have a whole lot of fun. Demons of Desire had two major storylines going on at the same time. On one hand there is the whole inner battle that Amber has accepting her demon side, and on the other hand there is this warring coven storyline.

The who and the why are what we have to figure out. I ate it all up. The characters, the plot, the world were all awesome. Amber hates that she is half succubus. She feeds off of sexual energy to survive, and she can get past that but she hates that once she is intimate with someone they are essentially tied to her for life. She is certainly a work in progress as the story goes on. Not only is she dealing with other big bad demons, she is warring with the "demon" inside of herself.

It was also really cool seeing her embrace both her demon powers as well as her elf powers. She is so impressive, and powerful for someone so young. I respected her for her maturity most of all. I loved watching her grow and accept herself with the help of her Incubus tudor Irix. I am just going to put that out there right now. He is full of awesome.

I loved seeing all the different sides. He is so complex and not at all what he seems on first glance.

He is the nicest "demon" I have ever seen. I can't wait to see more of him and Amber. It was just so strangely endearing to see that everything he did was for her. Even when he went and slept with other people, it was to feed her energy. I think in the next book, I want to see even more of the two of them, and I think I want to see a little bit of a jealous Irix. I think Amber would eat that up. I would also love if the next book was told in dual point of view between him and Amber. Can you tell that I can't get enough Irix? People that like Urban Fantasy need to read this book.

This series is going to kick ass! It has action, magic galore, tons of different creatures, and great character chemistry. Demons of Desire is the first book in the Half-Breed series, and I can already tell you that I love it. In fact, this is one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series, and it is only the first book. I need to read Debra Dunbar's Imp series as soon as possible.

This review was originally posted on Book Briefs Jun 09, Meigan rated it really liked it Shelves: It's no secret I love the succubus; two of my all time favorite series are centered around them. Naturally, I knew I would like Amber, although she wasn't quite up to the usual standard of her kind. Despite being a demon, she's the most reluctant demon and succubus I have had the pleasure of reading about. Amber has only known what she is for roughly six months. All of her life, she's been under the impression she is human.

Just your basic, average human complete with some "quirks". She's a love It's no secret I love the succubus; two of my all time favorite series are centered around them. She's a love 'em and leave 'em type, never entering in a long-term relationship because something always holds her back.

Evil Dead (2/10) Movie CLIP - Getting Inside Mia (2013) HD

Some light is shed on her situation when it's revealed she isn't what she thought. Turns out, dear old Amber is a half-breed. The product of an elf and a succubus mating. She embraces her elf side just fine with her love of nature and her overall sweet disposition, it's the demon half that gives her trouble.

She isn't comfortable with the whole succubus thing; taking a part of someone each time she has sex with them and potentially ruining them for life isn't what she signed up for. Problem is, she needs that in order to survive and thrive. Smokin' hot, sweet and funny incubus extraordinaire.

Personal Demons

Irix was sent by momma Leethu to help guide Amber in the ways of the sex demon. Problem is, Amber finds herself attracted to him That throws a wrench in her lessons; she can only think of him and every other male pales in comparison. Amber heads to New Orleans in order to escape Irix and clear her head. What she didn't count on is Irix being there at the same time. Being such a huge fan of Debra's Imp series, I'm always hesitant to read the Half-Breed books because they are so different than Imp. Even though most characters have already been introduced through Imp, they're still so very different.

I enjoyed Amber in the Imp series and I appreciated getting a deeper glimpse of her. I also liked seeing her on her own, without Wyatt and the rest of the gang holding her hand. I loved that she was such a complex character, battling herself over who and what she is. She certainly came full circle in this book and I'm very interested to see her and Irix both make more appearances in the Imp series.

Writing for My Life

Bottom line - the Half-Breed series is like the Imp series younger, less funny sibling but it's still a worthwhile read, especially if you've grown to love the offbeat secondary characters, like Amber. I recommend both series, but make sure you start with with the first book in the Imp series and go from there Sam Martin really is the star and no one can take her place!

I enjoyed thier story. Jul 28, Lori Palle rated it it was amazing Shelves: The other half is elf. Which, pretty much makes her an abomination with a death sentence on her to all elves. Her character voice is so hilarious! First, let me back up a second. Amber is a half-succubus and Irix is a demon Incubus. However, we do have some serious high heat scenes between our heroes for those worried about this being a comedy and not a romance.
